it always disappointed me that Monster Girls are an anime porn thing rather than something used to explore the way society and the media dehumanises women, but oh well
shout out to all my fellow monsters
Furiously draws Tintin after seeing a serious lack of fanart
and also because he’s a cutie and a badass
I think the main reason i'm so scared of "Lemonhope" is that there are a million ways the writers can screw up the Lemongrab storyline and I don't know if they will be able to handle it well/respectfully, and maybe LG won't be in the next episode and he probably will just be demoted to evil villain that used to be a sad character.
Yeah, that’s always a possibility and it concerns me. That said, the writers of Adventure Time have so far been really, really good on delivering on the possibilities they open up (PB being increasingly shown as unhinged/not always the moral high ground, the flaws that have been coming out with Finn’s age and the confines of his own mental image of being a hero and the standards others hold him to, Flame Princess breaking out of being a love interest, everything with the Ice King and Marceline….) so I do have faith that they’ll deliver here, too.
The writers have expressed attachment to the character of Lemongrab they built up, as has Justin Roiland, and I just don’t think they’ll leave things at “Nah he’s evil now, stop worrying about him.” There’s way too complex a tapestry they’ve woven here for them to just use it as a welcome mat for wiping your feet, yanno?
hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.
also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.
anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!
